
Too often, referral services simply give families some numbers to call, leaving them to connect with these resources on their own.

Women and children participating in WIC receive food instruments and cash-value vouchers for a variety of healthy foods. If a woman cannot breastfeed her baby, WIC can provide vouchers for certain types of formula. Women who breastfed their babies are provided with ongoing education and support, enhanced food packages and may qualify for breastfeeding supplies such as breast pumps. WIC encourages all mothers who are participating to breastfeed their infants.
